Quality Wildlife Feeders All Have One Thing in Common – a quality water-proof, or water tight feed container that will hold enough feed and keep it dry and fresh.

The most commonly built deer and wildlife feeder is a 55 gallon metal or plastic barrel. The main reason, of course, is the ease with which one can find and secure these barrels and the minimal cots involved.

Beyond the type of feeder barrel used, other components, fabrication and deer feeder design will be determined by many factors such as location of use, wildlife to be fed, wild hog and boar populations, other domestic wildlife such as cattle, horses, sheep or goats.

Feeder assemblies can include "free choice" corn, protein, roasted soy beans, or other feeds, pellets - or timer controlled and automaticly dispensed feeds at "pre-determined" intervals as often as "hourly" for birds and anywhere from two (2) to eight (8) times a day for wildlife or fish.

Each style and feeder function may dictate type and quality of your selections of feeder parts, barrel accessory and assembly parts - from hog-proofing feeders to spincast feed throw patterns and diameters. Whether or not to use feed filtering screens, automati air-drive feeder filler stations, hanging feeders or periscope barrel lid systems - is all more than a matter of choice.
