What I will say about the fabrication, design planning and building of your own deer, wildlife, big game and fish feeders is this - NOTHING IS MORE SATISFYING!! .. over the past 30 years I have built, assembled and tested plenty of them .. 'It’s not wise to pay too much, but it is unwise to pay too little' .. When you pay too much, you lose a little money, that's all! When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you thought you were buying was not capable of doing the thing you were buying it to do... The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot, it's just not normally done! If you deal with "LOW PRICE" it is well to add something extra for the risk you are running - And, if you do that, you’ll have enough to pay for something better - BigDaddy@HuntSports.com
BigDaddy's RECOMMENDATIONS for BUILDING YOUR OWN 55 Gallon Tri-Pod SpinCast Deer Wildlife Feeders
DEER WILDLIFE or FISH FEEDER FROM PLANS
START OUT ON A 55 GALLON DRUM .. and Build a 55 Gallon Tri-Pod unit .. WHY A TRIPOD? (1) Stability and least amount of hassles (2) This is the "most common design" - so you are not "re-inventing the wheel" as you proceed. (3) Least amount of costs vs. a QuadPod Design - Using a feeder with four legs will result in having to build, buy or make four legs instead of three; harder to set up on normal terrain, whereas tripod design, is very easy and simple - trust me without getting into the physics of four vs. three leg design; You can use 55 Gal Drums of metal and plastic; I have used both and although I have always been partial to the metal drum, I am liking plastic more and more;
